YMIS - SU Queenland

 It's time for what is possibly the Biggest event on the SU Qld calendar. 

Transform, SU QLD's annual staff conference, will be held at Alexandra Headland Conference Centre from 3-7 August 2009.
 
As a YMIS Diploma Student you are able to attend the Conference on the days YMIS will be presenting the content for the Second Intensive.
You can attend from Tuesday the 4th (after breakfast) till Thursday 6th (after lunch) for $200, that includes Food and Accomodation.
SU Qld will NOT be providing Flights or transport.

As promised, YMIS is taking training on the road to offer optional Professional Development workshops for all YMIS students and SU Qld Chaplains during the June/July Winter holidays.  We are coming to a region near you to offer training that will inspire you to be all that you can be in your roles working with young people.  Check this page for updates to locations and dates.

Note: All workshops are $20 per/day unless otherwise stated in your region.  LCC's to be invoiced.  YMIS students attend for free.

 

 The C4 YMIS students arrived back last Friday from visiting Doomadgee, Djarra and Normanton as part of the their cross-cultural unit.  Most of the students had not experienced outback living - with cattle, sheep, roo's and eagles, Aboriginal communities and massive sunsets, but this deep ending experience won't be forgotten.

 

 

Next Thursday, 7th of May, 9am to later afternoon, there will be the first Study Group available at the SU Office Brisbane, for all YMIS students.

You can get help with your up coming portfolio assessment, and enjoy a study environment with peers and trainers.  Coffee, Study, Coffee, Study.

Bring your laptop and get on top of your YMIS work.

If your outside of Brisbane, we encourage you to form a study group with others in your area, we have found students who have a study buddy or study group do better in our courses.

YMIS was at NYMC 2007 and it was a blast, and if you missed it, you should really get along this year.  Christian Youth Workers from all over Australia, and even from outside Australia, gather for some great training and inspiration from the NYMC team.  There is no other convention like it in Australia.

NYMC 2009 will be at Tweed Heads on the southern tip of the Gold Coast, from October 15-18, Thursday to Sunday.  We are excited to have Darren Whitehead, the aussie Youth Pastor at Willow Creek, Mike Pilavachi, founder of Soul Survivor Festivals in the UK, Darryl Gardiner, long-term head of Youth For Christ in New Zealand, Graham Stanton, Principal of Anglican Youthworks, Tim Hawkins, Ash Barker, Compliments of Gus and many many more.
