Have your say at the JustUs? Youth Forum

JustUs? Youth Forum
Exploring identity, social justice and today’s world from your perspective

Come along to this open forum for young people aged 15-24 to hear from and engage with community leaders, presenters and each other around issues including  diversity, community and social justice.  Join us as we explore identity, place and purpose, and the opportunities we have - individually and collectively - to impact the communities and the world we live in. Plus there will also be great entertainment and live music from young, local artists.

Should or shouldn't we be concerned with more than JustUs?
Raise your concerns, voice your ideas and get creative.

Shaka brings ACT to QLD

ACT Chappy Shaka Browning shares a little about his life, his ministry and his time in Brisbane at the YMIS Intensive.

What do you do and how did you get into it?
I'm currently a School Chaplain at a high school and primary school in Canberra. My journey into working with youth started when I worked for Kulture Break which is a creative arts ministry. In this role, I toured the nation and taught break dance in local schools. I made great connections with these schools and when the Chaplaincy initiative became available in Canberra, I applied and was successful.

What’s your favourite aspect of your job?
My favorite aspects are supporting youth and seeing them grow. I also love being a positive influence in helping to raise the next generation.

What was the most important thing you took away from intensive?
I took away a lot of knowledge and a new vision towards my work. It inspired and motivated me to continue to be a shining light.
