If you are, we have an exciting Senior Staff position available as Pastor of KBC Community Development. Kenmore Baptist Church is a large contemporary regional church in the Western Suburbs of Brisbane, Queensland, with a congregation of over 2000 people and a staff team of 30. The person appointed to this position will assist the church to manage and develop our growing congregation, connect it to the wider community and capitalize on the significant opportunities of advancing the kingdom of God associated with our move over the next few years to new facilities in a fast developing area near our present location.
Position Overview
The Pastor of KBC Community Development as a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) is responsible for developing through the 12 geographic zones into which the church is partitioned, a strong sense of community both within and between zones, sufficient to maintain church relational health, and support various appropriate evangelistic and missional initiatives into the wider community. The Pastor of KBC Community Development will champion a church-wide vision of fostering community relationships within KBC and between the KBC church community and the wider community at large thereby honouring our ethos of 'In community for the community'. The Pastor will foster and promote healthy Christian family life experiences both within the home and corporately within the church community. Preventative, enrichment and remedial programs will be encouraged, as will maintenance of proper administrative procedures to ensure effective and efficient functioning of this strategically important plank of KBC’s ministry and mission.
Position qualities and competencies
The Pastor of KBC Community Development will be a person who;
• Is a mature, committed Christian demonstrating a strong sense of call to KBC and this ministry, and, who on appointment, undertakes to be in full agreement with and live out KBC’s vision, mission, values, behavioural and ministry practices,
• Is willing to work under the authority of Christ, the Elders, and the Executive Team (of Senior Pastor, Executive Pastor and Administrator), and work cooperatively with the Senior Leadership Team,
• Demonstrates a deep love for and capacity to serve and care for people of all backgrounds
• Pursues growth and development both personally and professionally, and
• Demonstrates the following competencies of:
• Leadership, management, administration, and organizational development
• Training, equipping, mentoring, shepherding and encouragement
• Initiative, creativity, and networking utilization
• Communication with and motivation of teams and individuals
• An understanding and integration of theology and social sciences
Whilst formal qualifications in Theology and Social Sciences are not formally required, a working knowledge and understanding in these fields would be advantageous.
